Roboticon Tampa Bay 2018 runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 29-30 at the University of South Florida Yuengling Center (formerly Sun Dome Arena), 4202 E Fowler Ave. Nearly 1,000 students from Tampa Bay and Florida will visit to learn while at this K-12 STEAM Showcase.

The event will display the power of hands-on, mentor-driven STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Manufacturing) education and what youth guided by adult mentors can accomplish. Roboticon receives support from the University of South Florida, Hillsborough County, Lockheed Martin, Jabil, JP Morgan Chase, USF Connect and more.

The space-themed Roboticon will have special guest Kurt Leucht, NASA-Kennedy Space Center. Leucht will also host a workshop.

Andretti FastTrack will host a wind tunnel data acquisition demonstrations at Roboticon. Guests can test CO2 cars in a Jet Stream 500 wind tunnel to find the cars with the best aerodynamics, along with discovering what feature contributes to the aero efficiency.

There will also be an innovation fair showcasing commercial and industrial robotics and education exhibits from Sofwerx and other organizations. Guests also will tour Team Pits to see team members working on their robots and have a chance to talk to students, enjoy STEAM demos, vendors and organizations, learn more about the Tampa Bay Advanced Manufacturing and Robotics Center under development and explore technical, industrial and science career and college opportunities.

The event aims to increase public awareness of robotics programs like First. It also will help provide youth with low stress, high quality competitive events with opportunities for skill building, networking and college and career readiness experiences.

The event is free and open to the public.
