They argued, she walked, he drove at her in his car, Zephyrhills police say

ZEPHYRHILLS — Zephyrhills police said they arrested a man Tuesday night after he tried to run over his girlfriend with a car.

At about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, police saw a woman dive out of the way of a car on 5th Street and Avenue A, according to a police report.

The woman told officers she had been in an argument with her boyfriend, Aaron Lee Mahon, 27, the report said. Mahon then got into his vehicle and when she began to walk away, he sped towards her, the report said.

Mahon was arrested about 6 p.m. on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

He told police the argument started because of "relationship issues," according to the report.

Mahon was being held at the Pasco County jail without bail.
