A woman faces charges after she left her child locked in the backseat of her car in a Dollar General parking lot.

Colleen Walker, 30, from Volusia county, was charged with neglect of a child. The temperatures in the car reached 110 degrees, according to police. Police say the boy was locked in the car for 28 minutes while Walker and her daughter went shopping.

When the woman was arrested, she requested that the air conditioning be put on because she was too hot in the backseat of the police cruiser, according to police.

She faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
