Hernando Letters to the Editor for July 14

Fracking doesn't contaminate wells | July 7, letter

Fracking does contaminate wells

In the letter from Dennis Freytes, he neglected to say that, according to the Palm Beach New Times, Floridavets4energy is a PR and lobbying front for the American Petroleum Institute, the oil industry's largest trade association. I am disappointed that the Times didn't research the organization before publishing a pro-fracking slanted letter.

His letter was also flawed because, on Dec. 8, the EPA said that, for the first time, it had found chemicals used in fracking in a drinking water aquifer in west-central Wyoming. So fracking is not as safe as the petroleum industry would have us believe.

Your car has a turn signal; use it

Hello, Florida friends.

Today we are here to tell you about a nifty new feature in cars and trucks. It's called a turn signal.

They are very simple to use, need no extraordinary amount of manual dexterity, aren't very confusing, and are very helpful in alerting other drivers of your intentions. Just lift it up when making a right turn, and down for a left turn, and leave it in the middle when not turning.

If you find that you are having difficulty understanding the operation or your turn signal, most car dealerships will be happy to give you an in-depth explanation and help you understand its complexities.

We hope you find this enlightening.

Don't forget to tune in next time when we explain parking lot directional arrows and cart drop-off points.
