Get ready, fans of brainy '90s alt-rock and power pop: Weezer and the Pixies are teaming up for a tour, and it'll kick off in Tampa.
The alternative veterans will launch a seven-week co-headlining tour at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre on June 23, they announced today. The Wombats will open the show. Tickets start at $25, and will go on sale at 10 a.m. Nov. 10. Click here for details.
For Weezer, the tour will come in support of their new album Pacific Daydream, but the band is known for loading their sets with hits like Buddy Holly, Say It Ain't So and Hash Pipe. And for Pixies fans, this is their first headlining show in Tampa since 2004 (although they did play the Big Guava Music Festival in 2015). They were hugely influential on a generation of alternative bands, Weezer among them. "No other band hadthe impact they did on the band's early sound," Weezer wrote in a statement.
Considering this is the tour's only Florida date, you know fans will flock from all over for this one.
