As expected, Bulls coach Charlie Strong's name is being linked to the vacancy at Ole Miss, where he served as an assistant in 1990.
A report by sbnation.com's Steven Godfrey indicates Strong, Memphis' Mike Norvell and Texas San-Antonio's Frank Wilson are among the coaches who have been vetted by the school in recent weeks. A separate faction of boosters is pushing for SMU's Chad Morris and Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, the report says.
This is neither the first nor the last time Strong's name will be attached with a Power Five program over the next few weeks. For what it's worth, this is what Strong had to say last week when his name was being linked to the Florida vacancy:
The best thing to do is just make sure that you focus on what you have and what's at hand. … I have a team to coach. I have a team that's really an outstanding team with a really good group of seniors, and they deserve my best. And my best is to make sure that I stay focused, and I will stay focused within this job. This is my job; this is the only job I have right now. … You can't worry about what people are saying and what's being said and the rumors.
