Secret to Bloomingdale’s success? A pass-heavy offense

Max Warner likes to throw the ball, which makes sense considering he coached quarterbacks for pretty much his whole career before taking the head coaching position last year at Bloomingdale.

Guess what? Bloomingdale (7-3) has thrown the ball quite a bit this year with quite a lot of success.

Leading the way has been senior quarterback Tyler Hunter, who has come back strong after tearing his ACL in the last game of 2016.

Hunter has completed 140 of 280 passes for 2,195 yards and 25 touchdowns with nine interceptions.

Hunter also has thrown it to guys all over the field, completing at least one pass to 12 different players.

At the top of the receiversí list is Terrel Ferrell, who has 47 catches for 1,052 yards and 13 touchdowns, followed by Ed Amos (24 receptions, 324 yards, five touchdowns) and Xavier Hernandez (16 receptions, 166 yards).

"Looking at (Hunter) and the rest of our personnel I thought we definitely should throw it a little more," Warner said. "I also think our offensive line is more suited to pass blocking. I think itís all worked out pretty well."

On Friday, however, the Bulls come in as the underdog against Tampa Bay Tech, which is 9-1 with a 49-21 regular-season victory over Bloomingdale on Oct. 13.
