Big trout are the best bet for anything. It is time ó if you canít catch a big trout now, you never will be able to. Trout, our most ubiquitous species, are not difficult; trout are fun. Move the lure at a pace in which it stays near the bottom. The telltale thump is subtle. Fight the fish with smooth technique to prevent shaking the fish off your hooks. Be aggressive when looking for fish. Set up drifts where the wind or the current will take you across promising areas, being ready to set an anchor quietly when you find a pocket of fish. Move the lures down where they eat. One-eighth to one-quarter ounce jigheads with 3- or 5-inch plastic tails are a great choice. Fish where there is thick seagrass. Expect to lose some fish, but if you are diligent, you will catch your fish. Let the little ones go for our future. Keep the upper slot fish if you want to take one home.
