Lightning fan Dario Cruz spent every weekend the past 4-6 months creating a nearly life-sized portrait of captain Steven Stamkos.

"He's been my hero," Cruz said.

And it was Cruz's dream for the 4-by-5 canvas to hang on the living room wall of the Lightning captain.

He might get  his wish.

Cruz brought the spray-painted portrait to Stamkos' autograph signing Monday at Brew Bus Brewery in Seminole Heights. Stamkos was impressed with the portrait, which included him in a blue Lightning jersey, Stanley Cups in place of his eyes, with Amalie Arena underneath.

"Amazing," Stamkos said.

Stamkos told Cruz to wait around until after the signing so they could talk, the two posing for pictures next to it. Cruz gave Stamkos his information, and the All-Star said they'd be in touch.

You never know – Cruz's dream might come true.
