The Mahaffey Theater has canceled an upcoming performance by Garrison Keillor in the wake of allegations of sexual misconduct against the former host of A Prairie Home Companion.

Keillor was to perform in St. Petersburg on Feb. 5, but the show's promoter, the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts, quietly pulled the plug on Dec. 1, two days after A Prairie Home Companion producers Minnesota Public Radio announced plans to sever all ties with Keillor. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. For more details, call (727) 892-5767.

The Mahaffey isn't the only venue to cancel one of Keillor's upcoming dates — Fort Myers' Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall (Feb. 6) and the Coral Springs Center for the Arts (Feb. 7) have also dropped Keillor from their calendars. One performance in Florida was still on sale Wednesday morning — Daytona Beach's Peabody on Feb. 8.

While the full details of the allegations against Keillor have yet to surface, the 75-year-old raconteur has said he touched a woman's bare back while trying to console her. A Prairie Home Companion has since changed its name to Town Hall, with Keillor's successor as host, Chris Thile, calling the allegations "heartbreaking news."
