SAFETY HARBOR — Evidently, Monday was not the first time City Manager Matt Spoor celebrated with holiday fashion, but it definitely was the first time he came in costume.

At Monday’s meeting, Spoor, along with the city commissioners dressed for the holidays. Outfits ranged from the loud sweaters of Joe Ayoub, Carlos Diaz and Cliff Merz to full costumes worn by Spoor and Scott Long. Spoor donned a Christmas elf suit and, yes, Long was in a pink bunny suit.

"The idea (of holiday attire) started years ago, as a holiday casual commission meeting the week before or of Christmas,’’ explained Spoor. "It then changed to an ugly sweater meeting for the last five years. This year, Commissioner Long upped the ante with an ugly sweater/costume attire meeting.’’
