TAMPA—WestShore Plaza gets a little sweeter with the opening of the new confectionery, Shelby’s Sugar Shop.
Named after a fictional girl, Shelby, who travels from the rolling hills of the country to the heart of a big, bustling city, the shop will offer a whimsical retail experience with bridge installations and animation marking the transition.
"We didn’t have a candy store, so we’re very excited to offer this to shoppers especially with the imagery and ideology that they’ve incorporated," said Kristy Genna, WestShore Plaza marketing director.
The shop, located between Macy’s and Sears, offers classic candies known and loved, as well as nostalgic craft sweets and chocolates.
Menu items include premium toffees from South Tampa’s family-owned Toffee to Go and Wild Ophelia cold brew chocolates with flavors like sea salt caramel latte, Mexican vanilla and jet black flavors.
Candies are available in both package and bulk form, and by the piece or the pound. And although Christmas is over, Shelby’s candies make for a great gift year around. Guests of all ages can easily package a Shelby’s theme lunchbox full of confectioneries.
The theme of the shop is a coloring book.
"Everything is very crisp and white. You see the countryscape and the city in the back and it’s all white and outlined just like you would see in a coloring book," Genna said.
"Shelby’s is unique because it’s not just a candy store, but an engaging retail experience. It’s definitely an amenity we were missing. "
Customers will see as they walk through the shop there is a path where employees will go through the mall on a bike with samples so they can experience Shelby’s.
They operate within the mall hours from Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. For more information contact them at (813) 281-0112 or visit shelbyssugarshop.com/.
