Pasco County Sheriff's Office Jan. 1, 2018 mugshot of Erin Frank. Frank, of New Port Richey, was arrested on New Year's Day (1/1/2018) by Pasco County deputies for stabbing the driver of a pick up truck while they were riding on U.S. 19, the Sheriff's Office said.

PORT RICHEY — A New Port Richey woman was arrested on New Year’s Day after she stabbed the driver of a pickup truck in which she was riding, according to Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

Erin Frank, 35, was arrested on a felony charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in Hudson about 10 a.m. Monday.

About six hours before, Frank was sitting in the middle seat of a single-cab pickup truck with two other people on U.S. 19 in Bayonet Point, when Frank got upset that the unidentified driver would not take her to a house on Terrace Drive, authorities said.

Frank then jumped into the driver’s lap and pressed her foot on the gas pedal while pulling on the steering wheel to make the driver crash, according to deputies.

Then, deputies said she stabbed him around five times in the arm and chest with a 4-inch kitchen knife.

Soon after, the driver crashed into a ditch off U.S. 19 near Country Club Drive.

The victim was transported to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Deputies did not specify how the passengers knew each other, and did not divulge the driver’s identity.

Frank has arrests in Pasco County going back to 2007, according to Sheriff’s Office arrest records.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Frank has had at least four previous guilty convictions, including misdemeanor battery, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.

She was being held on $10,000 bail Tuesday morning in the Pasco County jail.
