Hollywood seems to be working 9 to 5 these days on '80s remakes, so it's probably of little surprise to hear that a reboot of 1980's 9 to 5 is in the works.
But here's the shocker: Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda are all confirmed to reprise their original roles, according to Movieweb.com.
According to reports, the new film will have approximately the same storyline: Three young women are forced to cope with sexist and chauvinistic behavior at the office. This time, though, they turn to our old friends from 1980 – Doralee, Violet and Judy – for advice.
Movieweb says the studio – 20th Century Fox – also wants to bring back the original scriptwriter to team up with a younger writer. No word on a director or production schedule yet.
The original 9 to 5 was a huge box office hit back in 1980 and spawned a TV show and Broadway musical. The self-titled theme song, song by Parton, was nominated for an Oscar and Golden Globe and won the singer two Grammys.
If you really want to impress '80s fans, bring back Dabney Coleman and transform him into a compassionate HR director for the office.
