Things to Do in Pasco and Hernando counties starting March 9

Zephyrhills Founder’s Day Parade and Heritage Festival: The 108th Founders Day celebration will include a parade along Main Street, starting at 10 a.m. March 11, in downtown Zephyrhills. The annual event is hosted by Main Street Zephyrhills. This year’s theme is "Moonshine, Turpentine and Timber." There will be entertainment throughout the day, as well as food and merchandise vendors. Call (813) 780-1414.

Friday Night Live: Brooksville Main Street hosts this monthly event that includes live bands performing, food trucks and a full bar. This week’s event will be from 5 to 10 p.m. March 9 at Hernando Park, 205 E. Fort Dade Ave., Brooksville. Featuring Actual Bank Robbers performing at 6 p.m., and Paradigm Party Band at 8 p.m. Admission is free.

Storybook Forest: The Early Learning Coalition of Pasco and Hernando Counties hosts this annual event in celebration of Children’s Week and Early Childhood Literacy. It will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 10 at Crews Lake Wilderness Park, 16739 Crews Lake Drive, Shady Hills. Featuring a variety of children’s entertainment, activities, crafts, music and complimentary food. With a variety of storybook friends visiting and interactive displays based on children’s books. Swing into Spring: Enjoy a nostalgic afternoon when the Hernando Jazz Society presents ‘Swing Into Spring’ at 2 p.m. March 11 at the Wellington Clubhouse, 400 Wexford Blvd., Spring Hill. A cash bar and buffet is available for a cost, provided by the Sioux City Grill. Admission is free for HJS members; non-members pay $10 each or $15 per couple. Spotlight on Talent: There will be 65 acts competing March 10 at the Center for the Arts Wesley Chapel, 30651 Wells Road, Wesley Chapel. Includes students throughout Pasco County competing to win more than $4,000 in trophies, ribbons and cash prizes. The first show is Act 1, which begins at noon, and include younger students; older students will complete in Act 2, which starts at 7 p.m. Tickets per show are $12 adults ($20 for both shows), $6 students ($10 for both shows), free for children 4 and younger. Twelve Angry Men: The show will be at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and at 3 p.m. Sundays, March 9-18, at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church Father Thomas Earner Parish Center, 8320 Old County Road 54, New Port Richey. Based on the Emmy Award-winning television movie by Reginal Rose, the show is centered on a sequestered jury, deciding the fate of an inner-city teen charged with murder. Tickets are $15. Rock of Ages: The show continues through March 18 at Stage West Community Playhouse, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. Set in the 1980s era of hair bands, the play takes place in the Bourbon Room, once the hottest joint on the strip. Working as a busboy is aspiring rocker Drew, who falls for Sherrie, an aspiring actress who gets hired as a waitress. The show features a slew of ‘80s hits from Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, Bon Jovi, Styx, Journey and other bands. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. March 9, 10 and 16, and 2 p.m. March 11, 17 and 18.
