Walmart said it is giving a total of $42.7 million bonuses out to its Florida employees in their March 8 paychecks.

The payouts announced Thursday are part of company-wide cash bonuses based on performance and tenure. That means some employees could see more than $1,000 their paychecks, said a company spokeswoman.

In total, Walmart says it’s giving out $560 million across more than 890,000 employees.

Florida has about 108,000 Walmart employees. Those working full-time, hourly jobs make an average of $13.77 an hour, according to the company’s website.

About $160 million of the bonus money is based on the fourth quarter performance and more than $400 million is tied to recent changes in the tax law, Walmart said.

"As a company, we want to be ‘people-led and tech-empowered,’ competing with technology, but winning with people," Elise Vasquez-Warner, a vice president and regional general manager for Walmart in Florida, said in a statement.
