This Disney food is delicious: 5 holiday treats only available in December

One thing Walt Disney World has mastered in recent years is driving the public into a frenzy for over the top food. It’s often offered for a limited time or, like the creamy Dole Whip, at a limited number of food stands.

This week, the chefs at Walt Disney World have unveiled five treats that already have a big fan base, but sadly have a limited window of opportunity. Here are some treats you can indulge in over the next four weeks:

Sandy Claws Orange-Vanilla Cake Push-Pop

This one was so popular at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, a separate ticket after-hours party at the Magic Kingdom where they pass out free cookies, eggnog and desserts, that the park will now be serving it all day, every day.

It’s a dessert filled with orange-vanilla cake, cranberry cherry mousse, white crispy pearls, cream cheese buttercream and holiday sprinkles. It’s topped with a chocolate piece shaped like Sandy Claws, what Jack Skellington calls one of the central characters of Tim Burton’s 1993 stop-motion film The Nightmare Before Christmas.

You can find it at Columbia Harbour House, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café, Pinocchio Village Haus and Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant.

Cinnamon Cream Cheese Mousse

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is offering a special mousse coated in a red glaze. It has chocolate cream cookie crumbles and apple compote at its base and is topped with a green meringue kiss. You’ll find this mousse at Satu’li Canteen, Flame Tree Barbecue and Pizzafari.

Olaf Cupcake

Since you can’t get through Christmas without Frozen characters, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is peddling this treat that consists of a chocolate marshmallow-flavored cake topped with vanilla buttercream and everyone’s favorite snowman. You’ll find the cupcake at ABC Commissary, Catalina Eddie’s, Fairfax Fare and Rosie’s All-American Café.

Cookies and hot chocolate (with a twist)

In addition to the International Festival of the Holidays offerings in Epcot, you’ll find holiday cookies with festive sprinkles and premium hot chocolate — with the option to add cinnamon whiskey — at Electric Umbrella and Liberty Inn.

Peppermint Cookies and Cream Shake

Over at the Disney Springs marketplace, D-Luxe Burger has a specialty milkshake and a new Holiday Turkey Burger, too.

Bonus: mobile ordering

Technology has made these items easier to find. Using the new Mobile Order on the My Disney Experience app you can place your order, pay in advance and skip the line. Since these items will only be available through the month of December, competition to snag them will be intense.

Open the app, tap the "Order Food" button, and you can see a quick list of the locations that offer this feature. Check out the menus at each of these locations in the app to find special holiday items.
