Life of the Party podcast: Our new year’s resolutions for a better party life

The PartyCast has goals, from RSVPing your way to truth, finding party games that don’t involve flip cup and helping out our host friends. Plus, Golden Globes fashion!

We’re all guilty.

You get an invitation on Facebook. You know in your heart you’re not going to go, but you’re afraid to say no. So you reply with a “maybe,” and then text at the last minute and say you forgot. Guys, it’s way worse than just saying no.

In 2019, let’s resolve to stop bad party behavior. On today’s Life of the Party podcast, we welcome Times food editor Michelle Stark to set new party goals, from cleaning up RSVP behavior to moving the festivities away from the kitchen table to offering to help hosts more when their appetizers are on fire. Clean up your gnawed celery plate, OK? We also want to get more culturally literate and dazzling, and that just might involve learning to play the banjo one of us has had for 2 years.

We also recap Golden Globes speeches and fashions — HELLO, BILLY PORTER’S CAPE. And in light of Surviving R. Kelly, we review our own creepy pop music encounters that look different in the light of #MeToo.
