There are three courses: a nine mile Family Fun Ride, a 40 mile mass start and a 75 mile mass start. All courses offer challenging hills. Choose the course you will feel most comfortable completing. Cycling isn’t fun when it hurts. If you haven't ridden regularly for a while, begin with rides every other day or three days a week. A period of 20 to 60 minutes will get you in shape and will develop your heart, lungs and circulation. • Please don't litter. Throw trash in designated bins. • A helmet is required. Not only will it protect your head in case of an accident, it shields your face from the sun making you more comfortable. This is NOT a race. Ride carefully and obey all traffic laws. • State laws prohibits the use of stereo headphones while cycling. No children under 8 years of age on the 40 or 70 mile routes. No animals will be allowed on the course. Organizers reserve the right to prohibit cycles which might interfere with the safety of the tour. • Sag stops are available along the course routes. Medical help will be available at PHCC. At 3pm, officials will “sweep” each course. If you have not completed your ride, you will be offered assistance to the finish line. If you refuse this help, you will be taking full responsibility for yourself and your safety. All rest areas will be closed. • Sag wagons will be traveling throughout the routes looking for stranded cyclists. If you are unable to continue, or have bicycle problems, pull over to the side of the road until help arrives. • Drink plenty of fluids to replenish what your body needs. Water areas will be stationed throughout the routes. Be sure to pull completely off the road with your bicycle. • Be sure tires are properly inflated. Do not over inflate. Check quick release hubs, front and rear, before mounting bike and be sure bike is in good condition. •In case of inclement weather, cyclists ride at their own risk. Tour will take place rain or shine. No refunds. • All participants are required to read and sign a waiver. • Don't wear loose clothing that can get caught in spokes. If you must wear long pants, wear summer-weight pants, avoiding jeans or work pants with thick, folded-over seams. Use rubber bands or straps on your pants cuffs. • Wearing sunglasses or other eye protection prevents bugs or stones from hitting your eyes. • Wearing gloves keeps your hands comfortable on handlebars and can protect you if you fall. • Eat a good breakfast. Carbohydrates are a good source of energy. • To prevent muscle spasms, do several deep knee bends and stretching exercises before starting out. Also, bend and stretch each time you take a break.
