SPRING HILL — A 14-year-old died after the car he was driving struck a tree on Tuesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Christopher Hunter, of Spring Hill, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Highway Patrol did not say how the minor came to be operating the vehicle or who owns it.

The crash took place at about 2:30 p.m. on Laredo Avenue, near Danforth Road.

Hunger was driving a 2001 Ford Taurus south on Laredo Avenue. Then the car failed to negotiate a curve in the road, left Laredo Avenue and ended up striking a tree, troopers said.
