Remember Chase Squires, the former contributor to our Stuck in the 80s podcasts? Last you heard, the former Times television critic was headed to Denver to take a job with the Associated Press. Turns out he couldn't give up on podcasting afterall.

Chase, the genius behind the exceptional Miami Vice, TV in the 80s, and Ferris Bueller episodes of Stuck in the 80s, recently recorded a podcast during his journey through the Bighorn 100, a 100-mile footrace through Wyoming's Bighorn Mountains. I e-mailed him to ask him how he pulled off producing such an engaging podcast while torturing his body over the course of 30-plus hours. Here's his response: "Believe it or not, i used a handheld Olympus digital recorder with a T-mike and some wind baffles I made myself out of foam, then held them in place with rubber bands ... I clipped the carrying case to a strap on my water pack."

Just great. I can't get my podcasting co-hosts to sweat out a remote broadcast from next week's Journey/Def Leppard outdoor show in Tampa, and here goes Chase recording a fantastic piece of audio while losing all but two toenails in a "Bridge over River Kwai" type death-march. That's Chase though: Always leaving a high standard behind him. Get some rest, buddy!
