Stan Ridgway feels the call of the road

Stanridgway Hey, 80s fans, we're in for another rare reunion treat this summer. Stan Ridgway, the former lead singer of Wall of Voodoo, is touring the summer.

Stan is probably best remembered for "Mexican Radio," but don't sully his genius song-writing career by labeling him a one-hit wonder. His solo career far exceeded that of Wall of Voodoo's, even though he didn't enjoy the notoriety of some of his contemporaries.

Stan's tour is timed to mark the 25th anniversary of Wall of Voodoo's "Call of the West" album. He and his band will perform key songs from the album as well as tunes from his solo career.

Go to his official website for dates, including a stop here in St. Petersburg, Fla., on July 29 at Jannus Landing.

If you need an education on the work of Stan Ridgway, you're in luck. Stan was the first artist musician we interviewed on the Stuck in the 80s podcast. He spoke to us for about an hour, so it's one of our longer shows, but still definitely work checking out. Click here to listen.
