Fine line between 2007 and nausea

Barfly2 I knew things were going in the wrong direction last night when I'm watching the Peach Bowl and the broadcast crew went crazy celebrating the New Year as the clock struck midnight -- in Rio de Janiero. What gives?!?

So, assuming your night ended the same as mine (passed out on the couch with a plate of sweet-and-sour meatballs resting on my chest), here's a good 80s game plan for recovering today.

STUCK IN THE 80s GUIDE TO RECOVERING ON NEW YEAR'S DAY:

1. McDonald breakfast sandwiches and Diet Coke: The official hangover food of George Michael. Get them ... now. I'll wait.

2. Comfort movies: If at all possible, set up a DVD player in your bedroom, to minimize your energy output. Now play your favorite soothing 80s movies. No action flicks! Too noisy. On reflective days like this, I lean toward the work of Eddie Murphy -- "Trading Places" (which ends on New Year's Day) and "Coming To America" ("So you see, my son, there is a very fine line between love and nausea.")

3. Medication: I'm no doctor, so please consider this entry for entertainment purposes only. But I will say informally that Excedrin contains a small amount of caffeine, which has the effect of opening blood vessels and relieving the pain of vodka tonics.

4. Your next party: Now that you feel better, start planning your next mistake. Might I suggest a Super Bowl party?
