The great '80s prom playlist

Valley

What's an '80s prom without great music? So with the Awesome '80s Prom coming to town (listen to the podcast!), we need your expert guidance: Help us build the most totally tubular playlist of prom songs from the '80s!

Now, they don't all have to be ballads, though we definitely want your best picks for those too. We also need songs that just get any red-blooded, '80s addict onto the dance floor. I'm thinking maybe a little Simple Minds and Don't You Forget About Me and even the great Kenny Loggins with Footloose. But we also seek those sentimental tear-jerkers that conjure up that age of innocence. Forever Young by Alphaville maybe?

Heavy metal tunes? Probably not, unless you had your prom in Detroit or Pittsburgh. (Umm, that last line is gonna get me in trouble, but that's a prom tradition as well.)

Added bonus: I'll give a special prize if someone successfully guesses the final song that is played at the Awesome '80s Prom before Friday night's performance. And no, the prize won't be the cell number of Valley Girl actor Deborah Foreman. She's all mine.
