Heathers the Musical ... How very
Heathers - The Musical. What's the up-chuck factor on that? The Hollywood Reporter says the 1989 teen dark comedy is indeed coming to the stage.
Andy Fickman (director of Race to Witch Mountain) is heading up the project with Kevin Murphy (Reefer Madness) and composer Larry O'Keefe (Legally Blonde - The Musical), onboard to handle the music duties.
The lead parts may even be set already, according to the Reporter. During readings of the play, Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell played the lead (originally Winona Ryder) with Christian Campbell as "J.D." (Christian Slater). Jenna Leigh Green, Corri English and Christine Lakin handled the roles of the three Heathers. [Relive our Stuck in the '80s podcast on Heathers.] Hey! Why not bring back Shannen Doherty??
Of course, the biggest challenge is getting all the juicy lines into the play and the songs themselves.
"I love my dead gay son ... If you can get that into a song, then that is just perfect," Fickman told THR.
