Who thinks remaking the Chuck Norris classic Missing in Action is a bad idea? Put your hands down; it's too late.

The 1984 action (nay, fantasy) flick followed "Col. James Braddock" (Norris) as he led a mission to rescue POWs in Southeast Asia. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new version by MGM would drop the Vietnam angle and set the story in the Middle East.

So basically it's Iron Eagle all over again, minus "Chappy Sinclair" and that snotty "Doug Masters." (At least Louis Gossett Jr. likes that idea. Wonder if he's mulling over a remake for 1985's Enemy Mine?)

The Reporters says the new Missing in Action is being written by Jeremy Passmore, who is also writing up the Red Dawn remake/disaster. And this new remake will go straight to home video -- not the theaters. That's the first good idea we've heard so far.
