On the crazy train with Christopher Walken
Christopher Walken may very well play Ozzy Osbourne in the film adaption of The Dirt, the scanda-licious true story of Motley Crue. And it could be (should be!) the role of a lifetime. But before he signs on that dotted line, today's birthday boy (he's 66) needs to own up to his other '80s-centric work.
Stuck in the '80s has a couple of long-standing theorems, the most relevant of which right now is this: No '80s movie can suck if it has either John Cusack, Max Von Sydow or Christopher Walken in the cast. Please just trust me on this and don't take your employer's time to research it in a fruitless effort to debate it. (So, A View To A Kill wasn't great. It could have been worse. Thank you, Duran Duran!)
So what about Walken? First movie that comes to mind -- The Deer Hunter, but sadly that's 1978. (I loved him in Annie Hall, but alas that's '77.) Pulp Fiction? Nope (1994). Wayne's World 2 for crying out loud? Nah (1993). Okay, so maybe Walken didn't leave his boldest footprint in the '80s, but there are still enough reasons for us to wish him a happy Stuck in the '80s birthday. And please, go ahead and make The Dirt already!
