Now playing in Denver: 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High'?
Jeff Spicoli is alive and well and ''living high'' -- sorry -- in the Colorado Rockies, according to Stuck in the '80s Denver bureau chief Chase Squires. Here's his latest dispatch:
Okay, don't tell me Denver isn't Stuck in the '80s, check out the marquee from the movie theater down the street from my house, might just have to check it out, I've heard so much about that film, who's this new guy, Sean Penn?
And mmm ... one of my all-time top five most favorite movies ever. Steve Guttenberg in Diner! Barry Levinson's love letter to his hometown. Nice tie in with the Baltimore schtick. Fun fact, the Mickey Rourke character, "Boogie," is based on one of Levinson's childhood friends, Leonard "Boogie" Weingleass, who founded the Merry-Go-Round chain of clothing stores popular in the '80s, and also tried to buy the Baltimore Orioles.
Fun facts to know and tell ... so there you have it.
Also, John Oates lives in Aspen, and Ski Magazine recently did an article on him because he is such a fantastic skier, a serious expert. Nice interview, btw, and I don't even really like Hall and Oates.
