Ready for another great '80s soundtrack?

Adventureland-soundtrack Adventureland may not be the next Breakfast Club, but its soundtrack is right up there.

Times film critic -- and frequent Stuck in the '80s guest host -- Steve Persall dropped off a promotional copy of the Adventureland soundtrack on my desk this week, and I've been lost in time ever since. He says the 14 songs on the disc are only a small sample of the tunes that appear in the movie, which he gave a fairly average review of. (Read it here.)

Persall admits he's not a huge '80s fan in general, but he says the movie is above the pantless humor of today's Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow dreck. That's good news. One thing I respect about so many '80s movies is that they usually put the need to tingle the heartstrings above the need to give endless noogies to the punchlines. (Yes, even the Last American Virgin. Poor Gary.)
