A David Bowie-'American Idol' conspiracy theory

Queen Am I the only '80s fan who watched American Idol's finale on Wednesday night in hopes of seeing some real music stars on stage? And yes, I loved seeing Kiss, Cyndi Lauper, Lionel Richie and Queen. But where was the much-rumored David Bowie?!?

Nowhere to be found.

When Queen took the stage, my theory was this: They'll play a Queen tune, start with the opening notes of Under Pressure, turn to the top of stage and say, "Ladies and gentlemen, DAVID BOWIE!"

Sadly, it was not to be. Maybe his wife Iman had a Home Shopping Network gig to attend and yanked David's leash before he could take the stage. Or maybe Bowie realized that playing a classic '80s tune alongside the suddenly evangelical Kris Allen wasn't the way he would like to be remembered.

As usual, leave it Fox to ruin a perfectly good '80s moment.
