Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan hospitalized with 'severe gastroenteritis'
Here's an update on Depeche Mode singer David Gahan, who was hospitalized in Athens, Greece, on Tuesday night, forcing the band to cancel the concert. A band announcement on Thursday said he was suffering from a severe case of gastroenteritis and more shows will be canceled.
The 47-year-old was right about to take the stage when he fell ill, according to media reports.
"Depeche Mode have been forced to cancel a further four shows on their Sounds of the Universe tour due to further complications from singer Dave Gahan's severe bout of gastroenteritis," the band's official statement reads. "Dave is currently undergoing further tests. Depeche Mode apologise to all their fans for this inconvenience and wish Dave a speedy recovery. Further information will be released in due course."
The canceled shows are in Bucharest, Romania; Sofia, Bulgaria; Belgrade, Serbia; and Zagreb, Croatia.
Okay, so I can't resist.
