On a Halloween mission from God: the Blues Brothers

Blues_brothers Dressing as the Blues Brothers when temperatures in Florida hit 90 on Halloween might not have been the greatest idea ever. It seemed brilliant a month ago when it was 60 outside.

Our Lady of Blessed Air Conditioning, don't fail us now.

But we adapt, we improvise, we overcome. And so "Elwood" and I made the rounds last night in St. Petersburg. We kept the costume props to a minimum. We chopped up an "Abe Lincoln" beard from a costume store for the sideburns, which slowly slid down our faces during the night in the humid air.

The skinny black ties aren't easy to find at Goodwill or Salvation Army anymore. But I found the perfect size at Today's Gentleman. "Elwood" found her jacket for $10 at Salvation Army. My "huskier" model was found at Men's Wearhouse. One hat was free (thanks to a Tampa Theatre fundraiser). The other was $5 at a costume store. Black sunglasses are easily found at Target. The only other prop was a rolled-up sock for "Elwood." (That was a hit.)

What happened during the night is somewhat blurry. But I understand there's video of me dancing at a bar to remain nameless.

If you had a cool costume for Halloween, don't forget to send it to stuckinthe80s@tampabay.com and I'll post it on the SIT80s Facebook Fan Page.
