2014 New Year's resolution No. 1: Learn to pronounce Basia's real last name

It's 2014 and a new year. If you are looking for good New Year's Day songs, the most popular and obvious pick would be U2's New Year's Day or perhaps you remember Lost and Found profiling ABBA's Happy New Year last February - but in true Lost and Found fashion, we'll dig up the more forgotten New Day For You by Basia.

In 1988, Basia hit the Top 40 with the also forgotten single Time and Tide that hit No. 26. Her follow up single was the optimistic New Day For You that only peaked at No. 53 at the start of 1989. While the video is nothing to brag about, the song is a nice slice of perky adult contemporary that I hope will put you in a positive frame of mind for any challenges you face in 2014.

If you think Basia selected her performing name for vanity, think again. Born in Poland, Basia's last name is the unpronounceable Trzetrzelewska with fourteen letters and only four vowels.
