Watch trailer for ‘Overboard’ remake starring Anna Faris

We know the storyline: There's no such thing as a GOOD remake of an '80s classic. But bringing in Anna Faris for a reboot of 1987's Overboard would seem to be a smart first step. Watch the first trailer and decide for yourself.

The original movie, which starred Kurt Russell as a handyman who exacts revenge on a spoiled heiress played by Goldie Hawn, was an unexpected classic. The pair's natural romantic chemistry didn't hurt either.

Fast forward to 2018 and now we get our first look at Faris playing the mistreated employee and Eugenio Derbez playing the spoiled playboy.

I love Anna Faris and think she's the perfect contemporary version of Goldie Hawn (so much so that I was disappointed she wasn't the final pick to play Hawn's role in a remake of Private Benjamin). If I'm a little disappointed in the trailer for Overboard, it's because Derbez (a hugely influential and successful figure in the Spanish entertainment business) doesn't at first seem to have the same "wow factor" that Russell brought with him in the '80s version.

I hope the full movie, slated for an April release, proves me wrong. Until then, I stand waiting with life preserver in hand.
