The long-awaited autobiography of Prince is expected to be released by the holiday season, according to Variety.
The book will be called The Beautiful Ones. It was in the process of being written when Prince died in April 2016. Author Dan Piepenbring was working with the musician, who had at the time provided 50 handwritten pages (which may be reproduced in the book).
Cutting the deal with Prince might have been more difficult than ghost-writing the autobiography. The deal was only inked after editors were brought to meet the musician at his Paisley Park estate in Minneapolis.
"It's never been done before," ICM Partners' Esther Newberg said of the pitch process with Prince. "Editors don't like to be in the same room making their pitches to the same potential clients. We had to do it because I knew he would not want to meet individually with editors."
