If anyone needs the "power of love" these days, it's Huey Lewis. The '80s icon, who canceled all remaining 2018 tour dates in April after discovering he is suffering from Meniere's disease, told the Today show on Monday things could get even worse.
"I haven't come to grips with the fact that I may never sing again," Lewis told Jenna Bush Hager during an interview. "I'm still hoping I'm gonna get better. They say a positive attitude is important."
It turns out the 67-year-old singer behind hits such as Heart and Soul, Power of Love and Heart of Rock 'n' Roll is only affected by his condition during performances.
"Even though I can hear you, we can talk, I can talk on the phone — I can't sing," he said. "I can't hear music. I can do everything but what I love to do the most, which is a drag."
There is no cure for Meniere's disease yet, so doctors basically have prescribed for Lewis is a diet with no caffeine and low salt.
