Eighties heartthrob Rick Springfield is going to back to our favorite decade – at least for one night. The actor/singer announced on Twitter this week that he'll guest-star on an episode of TV's The Goldbergs.
"Alright! At last I get to play a guy from the '80s. I'm excited to guest star on 'The Goldbergs' and return back to 1980-something!" the tweet reads.
Springfield was a hit machine in the '80s with nearly 20 tunes landing in the Billboard Hot 100, including the chart-topping Jessie's Girl. And don't believe all the hype: Rick has returned "back to 1980-something" quite often, including earlier this year when he hosted the 2018 voyage of The 80s Cruise. He was scheduled to perform at Clearwater's Ruth Eckerd Hall on Aug. 24 as part of an '80s lineup with The Fixx, Tommy Tutone and Greg Kihn, but that show has been postponed until Nov. 9 (without The Fixx sadly).
Entertainment Weekly says Springfield will play the owner of a karaoke bar (called Gary-oke's) on the popular '80s-based TV show. He'll appear in the season's third episode Sept. 26 on ABC.
