A remake of 'Predator' is coming? Get to the chopper!
Another week, another Hollywood reboot. This time it’s our beloved Predator, the 1987 sci-fi classic that featured the all-star cast of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers and Jesse Ventura.
Deadline.com reports that Benicio Del Toro is in “early talks” to star in a Predator reboot. The original film plot followed an elite group of soldiers on a mission to rescue hostages in Central America only to find that they themselves are being hunted by a stealthy alien. Though we generally dismiss remakes and reboots around these parts, casting Del Toro would be a good first step. His acting credentials reach all the way back to the ‘80s anyway. (Though I don’t think his role as “Duke the Dog-Faced Boy” in Big Top Pee-wee is going to make any highlight reels.)
Shane Black, who had a small role in the original (and was the first character killed off), is set to direct. Fred Dekker (Monster Squad) is writing the script. No word on a production schedule but a 2018 release date has been rumored.
