'Battlestar Galactica' set for big-screen reboot
Sci-fi fans can't get enough Battlestar Galactica. So say we all! So Universal has given the green light to a big-screen reboot of the series that began back in 1978. Variety says the new film will completely re-imagine the storyline, which had been centered on humans whose home planets are attacked by the robot race known as the Cylons and flee to find the legendary planet of Earth.
There have been four TV series based on the storyline: the original TV series that began in 1978, the short-lived Galactica 1980, a rebooted series on Sci Fi Channel that began in 2003 and even a short spinoff prequel series called Caprica.
The new movie will be written by Jack Paglen, who wrote the new Johnny Depp movie Transcendence.
