Beetlejuice sequel for Burton? Okay, but nobody should say the 'B' word three times
"Sequel! Sequel! Sequel!" Hell, if that doesn't make demons from Hollywood come to life and play tricks on '80s movies fans, nothing will. In any case, Tim Burton is ready to tempt fate and reportedly wants to sign on as director to a Beetlejuice sequel, says the Hollywood Reporter.
Warner Bros. has already offered Burton the job, but the director of the original 1988 flick hasn't read the latest script, says THR. Oh, and we don't even know yet if Michael Keaton is onboard yet to reprises the title role. But that's not the really bad news. The BAD news is that the script is coming from the same stellar team that gave us the well-intended-but-dreadful Dark Shadows and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I'd rather have death for the dead. It's all in the handbook.
