Big Country's 2013 tour includes three stops in Florida

Scottish alternative '80s rockers Big Country are touring North America this summer, and their tour concludes with three stops in Florida, including an Aug. 30 date at St. Petersburg's State Theatre.

Big Country shot to fame in 1983 with their album The Crossing, which featured the hits In a Big Country, Harvest Home and Fields of Fire. Though their fame faded in the early '90s, the band was dealt a huge blow with the suicide death in 2001 of lead singer Stuart Adamson, who had been fighting an addition to alcohol.

In 2010, the surviving original members recruited Mike Peters of The Alarm to join them as lead vocalist. A new album, The Journey, was released earlier this year with a live album due out later this month. Peters will handle the lead singing duties for the 2013 tour.
