Capt. Picard to marry; Gandalf to officiate
Patrick Stewart, better known as Jean Luc Picard to Star Trek fans of the '80s (and known as SIR Patrick Stewart to our British fans), is getting married for a third time. Even as captain of the Enterprise, Picard can't officiate the ceremony himself, so Gandalf the Grey will have to do the job.
Ian McKellan has announced he'll have the honor of marring Stewart, 72, and Sunny Ozell, a 35-year-old singer and songwriter whom Stewart met during a production of "that Scottish play."
Don't expect McKellan to show any Lord of the Rings style courage, the New York Times says. "I’ve done it once before, with two guys having a civil partnership," he told the paper. "I was crying my eyes out."
Would I be wrong to say I still prefer Stewart as Leondegrance in 1981's Excalibur? (Yeah, I'm wrong. But I still love the flick.)
