21 Jump Street ... the sequel?!?
21 Jump Street -- the movie -- was great. I mean it! Hollywood, my apologies for ever doubting you. Seriously. It's better than the TV show. Well, it's funnier than the TV show. But don't go ruining a good thing and making (gulp) a sequel!
"Even before 21 Jump Street made its debut at SXSW last spring, Jonah Hill was insisting Columbia Pictures had given him and his co-writer Michael Bacall the greenlight to pen a sequel," Cinemablend.com is reporting. "At the time, it seemed a presumptuous move as a comedy based on an '80s cop drama about two undercover narcs posing as high school students didn't seem all that promising. But Hill and co-star Channing Tatum won over audiences and critics alike."
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that filming will begin next fall.
If you saw the first movie, the sequel's plot is obvious; it was even teased at the end of the movie. Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are going to college. (Don't count on Depp reappearing. Hope I didn't ruin anything.) Anyway, I'm just not sure the premise works twice. Ask Eddie Murphy about Beverly Hills Cop 2... (Please god, don't mention Meatballs 2.)
