Another retro-tour gets the ax: Aerosmith cancels summer tour

Aerosmith_steventyler Forget the swine flu ... somebody get medical experts on the case of protecting our rock n' roll heroes! Aerosmith has officially canceled the remainder of their summer tour dates.

That means the previously canceled Tampa concert from July 11 (with ZZ Top) won't be rescheduled. According to the official Aerosmith website, ticket refunds will be available at point of purchase.

In a statement issued late Thursday, the band's publicist said injuries that frontman Steven Tyler suffered when he fell off the stage during an Aug. 5 performance in South Dakota are the cause of the cancellation. Tyler suffered a broken shoulder and needed 20 stitches to repair a gash in his head.

The publicist said doctors have "advised Tyler to take the time to properly recuperate from his injuries," reports the Associated Press.

"Words can't express the sadness I feel for having to cancel this tour," guitarist Joe Perry said on the band's website. "I would like to thank our loyal fans for sticking by us through thick and thin and all the good energy they are sending our way. We hope we can get the Aerosmith machine up and running again as soon as possible."

With Whitesnake canceling their remaining tour stops and Depeche Mode regularly calling in sick, this is becoming a pretty frustrating summer concert season.
