Another Star Wars trilogy coming? No way, says Lucasfilm
Is the force with Star Wars fans? Depends on whether you believe a recent report that creator George Lucas is prepping another trilogy of his beloved movies set in a galaxy far, far away.
The movie news website IESB.net got things rolling Friday by quoting an "ultra top-secret Lucasfilm insider," who said Lucas will start work on another three films after he and this production company finish converting the first six movies into 3D. The movies would be set in the "Star Wars universe" but not involve the previous Skywalker storyline.
Over the weekend, Wired magazine got the official denial. "This is, of course, completely false," Lucasfilm spokesman Josh Kushins told Wired.com in an e-mail Saturday about the report. "George Lucas has plenty of projects to keep him busy right now — including plenty of Star Wars projects — but there are no new Star Wars feature films planned."
