Aussie earworm: The Church's 'The Unguarded Moment'
The Church's 1981 hit The Unguarded Moment has been the official drive-to-work anthem for me lately. I think it's because it's the rare '80s tune that you can sing first thing in the morning even though your throat is still recovering from the previous night's adventures with whiskey. It's one song I guarantee will be on our "Australia in the '80s" podcast, which we're hoping to record in January.
I've been fascinated by The Church ever since Rick Springfield told us he was a huge fan of the band, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary with a show at the Sydney Opera House. Rumor has it the band is planning a U.S. tour in February; several of their classic albums are also set for re-release in 2011. Sounds like our podcast will be timed perfectly.
