Bill Paxton's b-day wish: a nice greasy pork sandwich served in a dirty ashtray

Try as he might, will Bill Paxton always been known as "Chet" from Weird Science to '80s fans? And is that necessarily a bad thing? Well, I suppose if this photo is the first thing you see, then maybe.

Paxton appeared in nearly 20 movies (not counting TV movies and series) during our decade. To some, he'll always be "Pvt. Hudson" from 1986's Aliens. Extra bonus points for those who honor his very short scene as "Clyde the Bartender" in 1984's Streets of Fire. Master level achieved for picking him out in 1983's Lords of Discipline.

These days, Paxton is just "Bill Henrickson" from HBO's Big Love, a cable series that pretty much everyone adores but I found difficult to watch. I mean, what's the over/under on how much polygamy anyone can watch on TV? (BTW: Best Paxton role in the post-'80s: True Lies. And his best line is unprintable in a somewhat family-friendly blog.)

Paxton turns 55 years old today. And judging from Times film critic Steve Persall's interview with him last year, he might be the nicest guy in Hollywood. The least we can do is give him his own top 5 list.

5. " If he pukes, you die."

4. "That's not a joke, that's a severe behavioral disorder."

3. "Okay. You die, she walks out of here with a severe limp."

2. "You're stewed, buttwad!"

1. "How about a nice greasy pork sandwich served in a dirty ashtray?"
