Bret Michaels as 'American Idol' judge? He now has Paula Abdul's vote
The never-say-die '80s rocker Bret Michaels is building all sorts of buzz about a possible gig as the next judge on American Idol. The latest development: Former judge Paula Abdul says Michaels is the perfect candidate.
"If he were to take that position I think he would be awesome at it because you've got to have a passion and love for music," Abdul, 47, told UsMagazine.com at the Tony Awards.
Michaels has been rumored for the open seat since Simon Cowell vacated the job just as Michaels was making one medical recovery after enough -- and winning Celebrity Apprentice in the process. He even made a surprise appearance on the Idol season finale and performed Every Rose Has Its Thorn.
"It takes somebody who really, really understands young people to try to make the magic happen in those 30 seconds," Abdul said. "[Bret] would fit the mold perfectly."
American Idol producers plan to have a replacement named by the end of the summer.
