'Brewster's Millions' set for remake
Slashfilm.com reports that Warner Bros. has hired a team to write a new script. The 1985 movie is actually based on a 1902 novel by George Barr that had already been adapted into a dozen or so versions for stage and screen.
Give Hollywood some credit this time; at least the storyline is fairly timeless. In the Pryor adaptation, Brewster is a minor league pitcher who will must blow $30 million in just 30 days in order to win the his real inheritance -- $300 million. The movie also featured the late John Candy as his best friend and catcher.
No word yet on casting (it won't be Pryor and Candy sadly) or a release date.
