'Captain EO' is back to save the world at Epcot
It takes an unabashed interstellar freak to get frothy-excited about the infamous Michael Jackson-George Lucas sci-fi short that is 1986's Captain EO. So naturally, the folks at Disney World invited Sean Daly and me to a press screening of the 3-D flick, which was directed by none other than Francis Ford Coppola.
On Friday, July 2, in a spiffed-up theater jacked with special effects and a new sound system, EO returns to Epcot after 16 years on the shelf. Click here to read the tale of our adventure to Orlando. And yeah, we took some more photos too...
Here's the original sign to Captain EO. Disney still had it in storage, so they dusted it off and used it again. The film remains the same, though visitors will see a new print. The theater's sound system is new too.
Yes, there's a merchandise kiosk, where you can guy the infamous rainbow shirt worn by M.J. during Captain EO. This studded white Mickey Glove, however, is homemade.
